Macron warns against 'regime change' in Iran, urges US-led diplomacy

Any push to overthrow Iran’s government would bring chaos to the Middle East, French President Emmanuel Macron said.

Speaking at the G7 summit in Canada, Macron urged US President Donald Trump to spearhead renewed diplomacy with Tehran, saying, “We need the United States of America to bring everyone back around the table.”

Macron added he believes Trump supports a ceasefire between Iran and Israel.

60 Israeli Air Force jets launched a major wave of strikes targeting Iranian missile launchers in the heart of Iran, Israeli military spokesman Brig. Gen. Effie Defrin said Tuesday.

The offensive forced Iranian forces to retreat eastward, he added.

“They withdrew from western Iran, but we are coming after them,” Defrin said, adding that missile activity is now centered around Isfahan.
