Germany, France, UK offer immediate nuclear talks with Iran

Jun 15, 2025, 07:18 GMT+1

Germany, France, and the United Kingdom have jointly offered to resume immediate negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program, German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul said on Saturday, in an effort tocontain the escalating conflict between Iran and Israel.

Speaking to Germany’s ARD public broadcaster from the Middle East, where he is on a diplomatic mission, Wadephul emphasized the urgency of de-escalation and the need for Iran to reengage diplomatically.

“Germany, together with France and Britain, are ready. We're offering Iran immediate negotiations about the nuclear program, and I hope the offer is accepted,” he said.

Wadephul criticized Iran for previously failing to seize opportunities for constructive dialogue but expressed hope that Tehran would reconsider.

“This is also a key prerequisite for reaching a pacification of this conflict — that Iran presents no danger to the region, to the state of Israel, or to Europe,” he added.

Iran International has obtained information indicating that Ali Asghar Hejazi, deputy chief of staff to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, is in negotiations with Russian officials to secure a potential exit from Iran for himself and his family if the situation deteriorates.

According to the information, a senior Russian official has assured Hejazi that in case of escalation, Moscow would facilitate his evacuation via a secure corridor.

Other senior Iranian officials have reportedly received similar contacts, with some already finalizing their own exit routes.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said in a video statement Saturday that senior Iranian leaders were “packing their bags.”
